Although Sierra Vista's population grew 5.0% from 2004 to 2006, the per capita water consumption within the City limits decreased by 7.6%.
- Since Census 2000, Sierra Vista has grown by an estimated 18% and GPCD has decreased by approximately 20% with the largest decrease in consumption in 2004 at a rate of 8.9%.
- The citywide GPCD of 144 is the lowest in 8 years; and one of the lowest of any city in the Southwest.
- In 2006, the City of Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca have offset 40% of the groundwater pumped.
- In 2006, the City's Environmental Operations Park recharged over 2200 acre-feet of water, which is almost 2 gallons of recharge for every gallon pumped by Fort Huachuca.
- Since the beginning of 2002, the EOP has recharged almost 11,000 acre-feet of water, or more than 3.5 billion gallons.
- To date, The City's toilet rebate program has been an annual “sellout” and has thus far in its 8-year history involved 1000 households in the replacement of more than 1,600 high-flow toilets with new low-flow models. This single program has saved 45 acre-feet of water (almost 15 million gallons) since its inception.
- Constructed stormwater basins located throughout the city limits continue to protect private property, control storm flows, and recharge the aquifer.
- Approximately 7300 acre-feet of water was pumped in the city limits, including Fort Huachuca, in 2007. That was almost 80 acre-feet less than the previous year.
- City-wide water pumpage in 2007 was less than at any time in the past eight years, and 400 acre-feet less in the year 2000.
