Great Start—Where do we go from here? |
A plan is in place for future sustainability of Sierra Vista, the Sub-watershed, and the San Pedro River. What else is being done about water use in our local area?
- The Environmental Operations Park (EOP) will continue as the flagship mitigation project in the sub-basin.
- An analysis of how and where EOP recharge impacts the sub-aquifer and/or river system will be conducted.
- The Water Leadership Team will continue to coordinate and facilitate citywide water management plans and strategies to achieve the mitigation objectives of the Biological Opinion (BO).
The residential rebate program (toilets) will be reviewed and new programs implemented when feasible. All rebate programs will be expanded or modified in response to demand and popularity. In addition, the program to replace all outdated toilets in the city limits will be analyzed to determine its feasibility and cost effectiveness. - Consultant recommendations for installing package sewer treatment plants to provide more reuse opportunities will be reviewed and analyzed by City staff. If approved and budgeted, package plants will be built as needed to achieve the City's water management objectives and expand the City's treatment infrastructure.
- New code changes relating to water management and in support of the Biological Opinion will be developed and recommended.
- Public outreach programs and media relations efforts will continue to be expanded.
- A capital plan to facilitate build-out of remaining stormwater basins in the City limits will be developed.
Stormwater basins will be completed within the City limits to manage stormwater runoff and provide recharge benefits. - Stormwater management efforts will be reviewed annually to assure maximum effectiveness and payoffs.
- The City's Surface Water Plan will be updated and implemented.
- Alternatives to groundwater use for sports fields and parks will continue to receive priority attention.
- The City's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) will continue to be developed and implemented. Opportunities to link MS4 requirements with mitigation targets will be reviewed.
- Data management relating to community-wide water use will continue to improve and expand.
